December 22, 201312 yr Having some success with ProFTPD, and have basic FTP running with a couple of users. Want to edit the proftpd.conf file, and because vi is frustrating , and so is mcedit (cant for the life of me work out how to use them!) i found i was supposed to be able to install and get the web server running, and edit the file. So, i have installed the webserver, and if i goto 'Settings' Proftpd, i get a box that says edit proftpd.conf, but its empty... My proftpd.conf is found in /etc, not sure if this makes a difference or not?
December 24, 201312 yr What webserver did you install? At the moment it is designed to work with the SF webserver. That one is somewhat in limbo right now. The plugin will need to be adapted to use whatever successor emerges or maybe it could be made so the user could choose that a webserver is installed and which directory to use. I'm still debating what way to go.
December 24, 201312 yr Please check that the SF webserver has "Running" as status on its settings page. Also check if in your webroot there is a proftpd directory containing some jquery files and a proftpdce.php file. Try to run it directly by acessing http://tower:81/proftpd/proftpdce.php. (change that to match your servers name and the port you set the webserver to use.) Does it work?
December 24, 201312 yr Author Hi, Web server is running. Files are in the webroot dir. Accessing by the link gives me the config page. Thanks
December 24, 201312 yr So you get a working config editor if you call the link directly but not if you use the settings page of the proftpd plugin? Which webbrowser are you using and do you have any ad blockers or the like enabled? If so, please try to add the settings page to your whitelist.
December 24, 201312 yr Author Im using Safari on a mac. Just tried Chrome, and get an error message in the box where the config should appear Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.
