noticed my email notifications stopped working sept 17. i see there is a new update and i have updated. is a system reboot required after updating?

been playing with this and can't seem to get it working.

echo -e "Subject: a test\n\nThis is the email body." | ssmtp -d root

above works fine so i believe smtp is good. also the test email works fine via dynamix. although i can't get it to send an email when stopping/starting array, although i see it try in the logs.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

EDIT: one email actually did manage to sneak its way into my inbox but i've been unable to recreate it. not sure how it even came to me as netx-priority should not be valid.

from: Console and webGui login account <[email protected]>

to: 1 <***@*.netx-priority>

based on that it looks like the script is doing something weird where its appending the priority to the To field, making the email go nowhere.

also i am seeing a lot of these in my logs:

sSMTP[6425]: Connection lost in middle of processing

but the dynamix test emails are sending fine. i can send 10 out of 10.

i'm trying to use unraid_notify command to force it to send a notification but doesn't seem to be working. this command still valid? i'm not getting any output.

root@Tower:~# unraid_notify -f -d -e

I have a drive not displaying the temp in the Dynamix GUI. It does show up in the UnMenu.

Drive - Seagate Desktop HDD 6TB 6Gb/s 128MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Drive Retail Kit (STBD6000100) (http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-3-5-Inch-Internal-STBD6000100/dp/B00JBJ34WC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414374227&sr=8-1&keywords=Seagate+Desktop+HDD+6TB+6Gb%2Fs+128MB+Cache+3.5-Inch+Internal+Drive+Retail+Kit+%28STBD6000100%29)

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

My new HGST 6TB is having issues with the Temp display (the temp is actually 35 not 25/44). Can anyone confirm their 6TB Seagate or HGST is displaying the temp correctly in Dynamix? Unmenu is displaying the temp correctly.

I'm seeing more odd CPU utilization reporting.

On the stats page, the graph never shows the CPU over about 20%, yet the dashboard page is again showing it running very high in the 90-100% range. It's not hitting 100% and staying there like it was a month or two ago, though.

I've got two screen shots about 1 minute apart showing the stats page graph in Firefox and the dashboard page display from Chrome, arranged so they were in view of each other. You can see the graph never shows anything nearly as high as the dashboard is reporting.

EDIT: This might be somewhat helpful:

MoBo: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Socket FM2+

CPU: AMD A6-5400K Dual-Core, 3.6 GHz (3.8 turbo)

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP 2 x 4GB PC1600

Has your drive already been fully added to your array?  I noticed that my drives will show the two values like that while it's clearing the drive (preclear), but after it's fully online, I now get the regular temp reading.

No. I precleared the seagate 6tb with 2 WD red 4tb, and the red 4tb were diplaying the temp correctly while the seagate showed "0)". I left it unassigned because I didn't want to replace my parity and then have the drive be incompatible. I bought the HGST thinking maybe I got a bad drive, but as soon as I hooked it up I noticed similar issues.

I'm also a bit hesitant to do the swap because these have had pretty high temperature readings (36-43) during the preclear. I actually stopped the preclear on the HGST when it hit 45 once. It has since cooled down a bit (weather) in the past week and they are running at around 36 steady during the preclears now. I need to work on my cooling in the case, but the caddys are so friggin tight its hard to get a lot of air past them.

If this preclear comes out ok I will go ahead and add it to the array & see what happens.

I would bet that it will read normal after you add it to your array.

I just got a HGST 4tb and it ran up to 52F during the preclear. I too was worried, but after checking their support website, that is still within normal operating temp for those drives - they just run hotter, which kind of sucks.  Others have reported the same thing, yet they continue to get very high ratings for reliability - perfect for NAS.  As long as they live up to that, I'll live with the extra heat.  I do like being able to keep an eye on the temps using this Web GUI - way cool!

above is my log data when i try to send an email. the first section is a forced notification (modifying email settings page seems to force an email to be started). the next section is the test email.

test email works fine 10 times out of 10. the actual notification email does not appear to get the OK message after ending the email a single period (.). nothing comes in after that.. eventually it'll time out and i'll get

everything before the message are the same based on visual compare

any thoughts?

I'm looking at the disk health section of the dynamix webgui and would like som help. I have a setup with 4 drives, 1 cache drive and 1 parity drive. What steps should I take in order to verify that my disks are healthy. Can I just check the disk attributes? Should I run a disk selftest and in that case, when? Or will the system notify me automatically if there is anything wrong?

Thank you in advance!

You might want to read this thread:

    http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=36229.msg337280#msg337280

After that you might want to click on 'Disk attributes' for any of the drives that show up on the 'Health' tab of Dynamix.  That will display the SMART attributes that you drive reports.  The 'Run disk self-test' will run either the long or short SMART test on the disk.  (Be careful ---the short test takes just a few minutes but the long test will take MUCH, MUCH longer!)

I have the feeling that by the time SMART says a disk is bad, you already know it.

Stupid question? is there a setting to show unassigned drives? I see the 'unassigned drives' tab in the screen shots, but I don't get that (and I have a few unassigned drives! [for now])

Yes, I think you will find what you are looking after you stop the Array.  You will find that button on the "array operation" tab in the Main page.

ahhh, nope... this is my current testing setup (recovering a bad crash) 5.06, latest Dynamix, there are 6 unassigned drives spinning.....

Wondering if anyone can offer some insights or tips on my problem.

I recently upgraded the MB/CPU on my Unraid server, and I rebooted back into Unraid after the installation and the array comes back as expected.

However, on the dashboard page of Dynamix, there seems to be nothing that is populating. Everything else would appear to be working as normal.

I've tried uninstalling Dynamix and reinstalling it fresh, but it made no difference.

I'm running Unraid 5.0.5 if it matters...

You are not providing much information to the people who might be able to help.  Describe exactly what drives you had in the system and how they were assigned.  Example: parity drive, three data drives, cache drive, two unassigned drives.  List the sizes of all your drives.  Be as specific as possible.

Also, what was the nature of your crash and how did you resolve it?

I think you might be better served by posting a new thread in the Version 5.X  'General Support' sub-forum detailing your problem.

Did that two days ago,  the crash is almost resolved (have new key for new flash) .. this is (effectively) a brand new machine, new hardware, getting ready to put my old drives back in and I was shaking the new hardware out, upping to 5.06 in the process and Dynamix. "Describe exactly what drives you had in the system and how they were assigned.  Example: parity drive, three data drives, cache drive, two unassigned drives.  List the sizes of all your drives.  Be as specific as possible." is meaningless in this case, it's 6 freshly preclared, unformatted drives. The point is THE UNASSIGNED DRIVES tab is missing. They show up on the main tab under the drop downs (unassigned), there is no unassigned tab under array operations. BEFORE (pre Dynamix) there was a setting to "show unassigned drives", so back to my original question....

"is there a setting to show unassigned drives?"
