December 25, 201312 yr I am going nuts trying to figure this out and I am sure there is a simple solution - when accessing Tower via Windows Explorer I see Disk8 as a folder that looks like my other shares e.g. Movies, TV Shows etc. However, when I go Shares from within the Unraid GUI it doesn't show Disk8 as a share, I only see the "real" shares that I created. Disk 8 was the most recent disk that I added but I don't recall doing anything different compared to when I added the previous disks. What did I do wrong? How do I stop Disk8 from showing as a Share when viewing Tower from Windows Explorer? Thanks in advance for any help! Kevin
December 25, 201312 yr Sadkisson is correct. Normally, when setting up UNRAID, you want to export the SHARES, and NOT the disks. When you added the new drive, you probably 'exported' it, thinking it was the right mechanism to add the new disk to the existing defined shares. That's not necessary. Once its added to the array, UNRAID sees the new physical disk as 'just some more space' to be used by the existing shares.* *Note: If, however, your shares include settings for 'include' and 'exclude' specific disks, then this may not be true. If you use these settings in your share definitions, be sure to 'include' your new disk in the appropriate share definitions.
December 25, 201312 yr Author Thanks to both of you for your help. What you both said makes sense. However, when I click on disk 8 (or disks 1 through 7 for that matter) from the Main page there is no option regarding SMB. I DO see it if I click on the cache drive but I don't for disks 1 thru 8. I tried stopping the array but I still didn't get that option. Sorry, if I am being dense here but I can't see the SMB option for the disk in question. Thanks again for your help!
December 25, 201312 yr On main page click disk 8 and then you should see smb security settings with an option of export: no, yes, and yes(hidden). I personally use yes(hidden), but changing to no will not allow you to see or access the drive share all together. BTW, I am using unRaid 5.04 not sure if that option is there in precious versions.
December 25, 201312 yr Author From the main page if I click on disks 1 - 8 I only see 4 lines under Device Settings: Partition Size, Partition Format, File System Type and Spin Down Delay. There is nothing else on the page. If I click on the cache disk I see Device Settings as above, then SMB Security Settings, then SMART Checks. I don't understand why I don't see those options for disks 1 - 8. I am using 5.04 so I don't understand why I don't see the same options as you!
December 25, 201312 yr This is caused by an incompatible add-on. Simplefeatures is not compatible. The github GUI has problems as well.
December 26, 201312 yr Author Thanks, that was it. Once I removed Simple Features I could see the extra options. Shame, because I liked the look and feel of Simple Features.
December 26, 201312 yr Thanks, that was it. Once I removed Simple Features I could see the extra options. Shame, because I liked the look and feel of Simple Features. You might like to try Dynamix, which was recently released by one of the authors of SimpleFeatures.
December 27, 201312 yr Author Dynamix looks great. Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely try it in place of SimpleFeatures.
