Lost USB Drive

Featured Replies

Ok I need some help.  I just moved and during the move my USB thumb drive that I booted my homemade unraid server to got lost.  I'm not sure what to do.  I made another bootable drive but it did not seem to work.  I have to do a hard shutdown every time so I thought I would get some advice before I go further into trouble shooting.  Any help would be great except the smart ass coments about losing the USB Stick.  I KNOW!! :(

Thanks guys.

Were you running unRAID Basic or did you have a license. If you had a Plus or Pro license then you will have to get a new key for the new thumb drive.

Do you have a monitor hooked up so you can see the boot messages?

it did not seem to work.

This implies it doesn't boot.

I have to do a hard shutdown every time

But this implies it boots, but doesn't shut down correctly.

Which is correct?    ... and what is your hardware configuration?  [Motherboard make/model; CPU; memory; disk complement]

ok thanks for the help.  I rebuild a USB drive again and it booted right up.  I am doing a parity-sync.  hopefully I did not loose my data.  Thanks for the help and I will keep you posted.

Your data should be fine as long as you assigned the correct disks.  Too late now ... but it would have been a good idea to assign your two data disks (without parity) and Start the array to confirm you had the right disks assigned;  and THEN stop the array and assign parity.

... but as long as the assignments are correct, your data will be fine.
