December 31, 201312 yr On a server, ready for testing with a SM X7SPA mainboard I have a SAS2LP controller. I use a 5.0b12a for this preliminary hardware detecting phase. I hope my English isn't too bad. No harddisks are connected but are on order. PCI info shows: 01:00.0 RAID bus controller: Unknown device 1b4b:9485 (rev 03) Subsystem: Unknown device 1b4b:9480 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 Memory at fe8a0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Memory at fe8c0000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) Expansion ROM at fe890000 [disabled] Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3 Capabilities: [50] Message Signalled Interrupts: Mask- 64bit+ Queue=0/0 Enable- Capabilities: [70] Express Endpoint, MSI 00 Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting Capabilities: [140] Virtual Channel Kernel driver in use: mvsas Kernel modules: mvsas Does this look okay? I get a bit suspicious when I see unknown device, eventhough the correct? kernel driver and module get loaded.
January 1, 201412 yr I can only tell you from my experience and info learned here. I have the same card, installed about two weeks ago. When I first connected it the drive did not show up. There is a row of green LED's that let you know that there is drive activity. I had to flash the bios on the card and it started right up. Search the board for SAS2LP and you'll find all the info about flashing the card, then again you may not have to, you'll know when you put the drives in.
January 1, 201412 yr Take a look at the release notes on this webpage (link below) under "Changes from 5.0.2 to 5.0.3" for info about this board: http://dnld.lime-technology.com/stable/unRAIDServer-5.0.4-i386.txt
