January 4, 201412 yr Hi Im hoping someone can help with some questions around RDMs and how they are created - vmkfstools -a lsilogic or vmkfstools -a pvscsi I believe the -a option is related to the kernel driver used for accessing the storage and I think pcsvsi is navtive to ESX so would be the best option to run with but would be grateful if someone could confirm? Then the -z /vmfs/devices/disks/ path can be to either a t10.ATA_____WDC_WD1600JS device or a vml. device I have used the vml. device but can anyone explain the differences? Finally Im wondering about the inability for UNRAID to manage the disks and what the impact is likely to be having them polled by ESX rather than spun down and not being used. Thanks N.
