January 12, 201412 yr I have a dell power edge 6024 Managed switch that I use for my home network. It has a web based management system but it needs to be activated before I can use it. The problem is that I don't have anything with a serial port (with the exception of my unraid server) to connect to it with. Is it possible to connect it to the port on my Unraid server to do the management?
January 12, 201412 yr If it already has an IP address i suppose you could telnet to it. Barring that...i doubt it. They do make usb to serial converters to allow you to use a usb port to connect to the switch.
January 12, 201412 yr Author It doesn't seem to have an IP that I can find.....I bought it off ebay, so my main concern is how it is set up already... and then to be able to play around with bonding etc!! I did pick-up and USB-Serial, but haven't connected it yet!!
