January 12, 201412 yr I have added two new drives to my high water allocation Tower a little while back, but now that one of my original drives is nearly full (disk2 445MBs) when I try to add a new episode to my TV Shows share that is larger than what is left on disk2, instead of going to disk1 or the newer disk3 or disk4, it gives me an error saying there is no space left. I just stopped the array and rebooted to see if that would magically make everything work, but the transfer failed as it did previously. [/img]
January 12, 201412 yr Author My gut tells me it may have to do with my Split Level 2. I am trying to add to existing seasons of shows. My current structure for the TV Shows share is the following: TV Shows -> ShowName -> Season# -> episode.fileextension So if this is the issue, would it be best to use a different split level? I liked a split level 2 because if you binge watch shows from the same season then multiple drives wouldn't have to spin up. But I am open for best practices or different solutions for this problem.
January 12, 201412 yr With a split level of 2 each Season is constrained to a single drive (split level overrides allocation method). That is a sensible split level, so you may prefer to manually move some seasons/shows to the new drive. The alternative is to increase the split level, but that will result in seasons being split across multiple drives. It is really your decision as to how you want to manage your media.
