January 19, 201412 yr Hey. I've decided I don't care about using a SSD as a cache, since it fills up rather fast, so I've bought 2 more 3tb drives and one WD black 1tb for the cache drive. I only have one sata port, so I left the 3tb drives out, and plugged in the 1TB. I booted up, logged into telnet, ran screen ant ran "./preclear_disk.sh -A -M 4 /dev/sdb" which started preclearing the disk without issue. The problem was, I lost connection with the GUI. I was unable to do anything, so I stopped the preclear process and rebooted the server. the server booted up, with "unclean powerdown detected" and then in 2 minutes the GUI was unresponsive again. I dumped the syslog and powered off the system and removed the drive and so far it's runnign without issue. weird thing though, when I plugged in the 1tb, it took the position on sdb which used to be my cache drive, now my cache drive is sdc. I just want to upgrade this drive so I can use the SSD in my gaming PC syslogtemp.zip
January 19, 201412 yr Author update: I left the server running for about 20 minutes with the WD Black disconnected, GUI was respondng well, no issues. I started the array (which should start a parity check) and now the GUI is hanging again (The connection was reset in FF) edit: cannot mount my drives. "Spinning up all drives...Start array...Mounting disks..." and it hangs trying to connect edit2: renamed /boot/config/plugins and /boot/extra and rebooted, got into the old GUUI, and the array started, it's doing a parity check right now... edit3 12am: 26% parity checked, 300 minutes remaining. edit4: 10:30am: upgraded from rc11 to 5.0.4, removed a bunch of plugins, was getting an error on bootup "warning cannot find /syslinux/syslinux.cfg" so I copied over that folder, Iguess on my version those files were lcoated in the root, and now they are located in a folder. It booted back up,
January 19, 201412 yr Author Fingers crossed... and.... success! array mounted and GUI is still running. next test: uninstall simplefeatures, and try preclearing this harddrive again....
