Suddenly i can not get to my shares. /mnt/user shows up in putty/mc as 'user?'

Error seems to be : endpoint is not connected (Other emhttp)

In webgui when entering contents of share, the msg is:

i would save your syslog and then do a CLEAN shutdown/reboot, i have seen this myself where all shares disappear, a reboot fixed it for me, syslog is located at "/var/log/syslog"

I've added the syslog, apart from the message, i can't find any strange things or segfaults.

Did a reboot, now all seems fine again.

Still, i would like to know what caused this?

And furthermore, can i do some checks or run some analysis to find out what might be wrong?

i would start by analysing your saved syslog, open it with a decent editor like notepad++ and find any lines that have the word "error" in them, then start searching the forum for any matches.

I did not find any errors.

Is there anything i should check or run? Smart reports? Chkdsk or something equal? Change some setting?

Remove or disable all add-ons for testing. See my sig.

Thanks, but then what? I've been running this config for over 1,5 years 24/7 now, never had this issue. Also after rebooting, everything seems to function normal again. Why disable all addons now after all? Its not logical. Maybe if it occurs again and again, disabling addons and plugins is a valid method for troubleshooting, otherwise i dont see why it would have any affect at this moment.

I'd rather have some insight in what this error actually was, and if something might be compromised, how to check or test it.

I, too, have recently begun having these errors on a weekly basis.  User shares are lost, and the transport endpoint not connected just keeps spamming my syslog.  Luckily I was actively using my array when this happened just now, so I was able to grab the syslog.  Like jowi, the syslog provides zero help.  It just starts happening without any sort of error or warning or notice.

In my research on these forums, it appears that NFS or rsync might have something to do with it?  These would be the only new change to my setup as of late: utilizing NFS on a disk share (not user share) for ESXi backups, and using rsync to backup my cache drive.

I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around why more people aren't experiencing this, as I was under the impression that MANY users use both NFS and rsync (together, let alone separately like me).  Any insight would be appreciated.

Running 5.0.5.

Just happened again... all shares are gone and the user share 'folder' show up as ?user in mc...

I think i have to reboot again?

Any news on why this is happening?

You should post a syslog covering the period where the issue occurred to see if it gives any clues.
