thinking of replacing homemade box with a MicroServer N54L or N40L

Featured Replies

hi everyone!

i presently have an homemade unraid box that i use to store my files (of course) and also to encode movies with handbrake. This is a long process since that i only have a G1620 CPU but i don't really care about the speed. The problem that i have is that the box is a little bit loud. It is currently sitting under the stairs but during the night, i can hear the vibration and fans, not very loud but enough to disturb.

So i was looking to change my box to maybe a MicroServer N54L or N40L. I did some reading and someone on this forum says that the noise of the N36L is about 21db. So i guest that the N54L will not be very higher than that? Also, what kind of speed can i expect to have when encoding movies with handbrake? Will it be lower that what i currently have? Presently, i get ~1.13fps with preset=veryslow and profil=high. Anyone is doing encoding with the MicroServer N54L?

My current unRaid box:

AsRock B75 Pro3-M

Intel G1620

Antec Neo Eco 400c

Antec Three Hundred Two

G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-4GBXL 2X2GB DDR3-1600

thank you for the help!
