thebigslicksuitd
Is anyone else getting an IRQ #16 error? Been running 6.0 through all the betas without issue (except my own learning curve) and this didn't start for me until yesterday so not sure how to go about troubleshooting this. After I saw it last night I ran memtest for about 5 passes without issue. Should I do that for longer? Any help is much appreciated. RobJ
One more bug or something missing on B3 ? I'd say wait for the newer version in 6.0-beta4. Quote Link to comment
RobJ
Anyone know if it's already possible to do USB passthrough? Running an Ubuntu 1310 installation + custom kernel (for TV). I have pretty much everything working now EXCEPT passthrough of my USB Smartreader (Smargo Smartreader V2). I think you too are waiting for 6.0-beta4 with better USB passthrough support, see this. I think i'm good for now with my workaround. To reply to someone else as well whom passed through the entire USB controller/hub. I did indeed not try that, i only wanted to pass a specific port and didnt try the whole controller (As i got my unraid stick on it i didnt dare ) for now i ended up with the following build, i think Tom is onto something here...this took me ~2 days including custom kernel building and various application specific library issues vs. months of agony trying to make Unraid jump through flaming hoops. Was always wary of moving unraid to virtualization in the past as support was flaky. Xen/Unraid 6 Beta 3 - Storage - Oscam (Did not get usb passthrough to work in Xen so compiled oscam with smartreader support for Unraid) Ubuntu 13.10 (Kernel 3.13 Custom kernel for TV/HDHomerun) - dvbhdhomerun / userhdhomerun - TVHeadend - Plex Media Server - CIFS for Samba client capability TVHeadend and Plex connect to Unraid: - TVHeadend --> Oscam for decrypting - TVHeadend --> /mnt/cache/.Recordings for recordings. - Plex Media Server--> All major /mnt/user SMB shares (e.g. Movies, TV Series, Photos). Result: Heaven. No more b****** with Unraid custom compiles. For people who are interested..my frontend HTPC is now running XBMC (Win7) in which i combined my Plex libraries (PlexBMC)with XBMC's LiveTV from TVHeadend. (Yes, except for LiveTV i don't use any of the XBMC features as i love Plex more ) Quote Link to comment
StevenD
I upgraded my server from 5.0.4 to 6.0-beta3 and Ive run into an issue. It seems that "Execute" permissions have gotten broken. When I upgraded, I kept my "config" folder as I didnt want to setup shares and users again. I have tried running "newperms" against a couple of shares, I tried applying it to the entire server. Still no-go. Its not just my cache drive, Im just using it as an example. Any ideas what happened? Or at least how to fix it? dsmitty166
Anyone know why it shows 2gb maximum memory in 6.0b3? I just upgraded my mobo and ram to 8 gb. Mahdi-Rom Quote Link to comment
switchman
While I have not used R6 yet, I take that screen shot to mean you have 8gb in you system with the largest stick being 2gb. Lets say you had 2x2gb and 2x4gb sticks. I would expect it to report 12gbs and 4gb max. Quote Link to comment

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the AMD Phenom x2 doesn't support virtualization, which is needed for xen correct? I just did a little reading and that's what I've found. I may be wrong though, so please correct me if so Mahdi-Rom Quote Link to comment
jumperalex
Pretty sure the AMD Phenom II x4 940 does support visualization via AMD-V / AMD Virtualization technology per the spec sheet. The motherboard supporting IOMMU via AMD IOV is another story. http://products.amd.com/%28X%281%29S%28wfelnp55dntbocv3hngp5smf%29%29/pages/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=509&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=&f11=&f12= Quote Link to comment

You really just "need" amd-v or vt-x(?) for an hvm build(ex. Windows). You can also do pci-passthrough and usb passthrough for most devices to a pv kernel without any special requirements. It's not really secure but security has never been a thought in Unraid. Quote Link to comment
Mithrandir
Did anyone have any issues with stopping the array (after samba changes? Not sure if the samba changes were related) I've never had a unclean shutdown in <=Unraid 5.0 but with Unraid 6b3 i've had 2 unclean shutdowns this week when stopping the array in the GUI. The whole gui freezes, ssh logon freezes and even my sideband freezes. Did see a few no memory errors (i usually have 2 GB left so what on earth can suck 2GB+ memory in a go ?!). clowrym
I seem to be running into an issue, in the last couple days all transfers to my Share "Media" fail typically between 4 to 5gb, but if i transfer straight to the disk, it works fine, I am thinking it may be a specific disk5 issue, just running a smart test to see what it comes up with, next i will try to check the file system on disk 5. nothing seems t show up in the log, so i'm not sure how to proceed other than i noted above! I have also found that with v6b3 & bonding when i reboot, one of my nix's only connects at 100 & i have to disconnect & reconnect it to get gb ethernet.. So far v6b3 has been working perfectly till this happened, I tried a reboot, but still the same issue. i realize my system isn't really vanilla....as I am running plex plugin & dynamic... but all has worked fine for a couple weeks with these running, so i don't believe they are related syslog.zip Quote Link to comment

That's interesting - I have been having the same problem, intermittently, running v5.0.5. I only have one network interface connected without bonding (plus the IPMI port). I had been suspecting a switch problem but your report has made me wonder. If it's relevant, the unRAID server data connection is currently connected to a Netgear GS608 (IPMI is connected to a TP-Link TL-SG1016). Over the last few weeks I have been noticing that the led has sometimes been yellow, rather than green. As you say, unplugging/reconnecting the CAT6 cable restores Gb operation. Perhaps I should try connecting directly to the TP-Link again (I'm using the Netgear to reduce dropped packets). Otherwise, I could swap the Netgear with the D-Link from downstairs.
