January 13, 200917 yr I bought a 2-pack of Kinsington Data Traveler, 1GB flash drives. When I boot one of them, unRAID boots fast. The progress of the dots indicating loaded data proceed at about 15 per second. On the other one, it is slow. The progress of the dots indicating loaded data proceed at about 3 per second. Turns out, I had run syslinux with the -s flag on the second one. DOH! I had been doing this out of habit, but the -s (safe mode) results in MUCH slower loading. The syslinux documentation tells you this, but I had no idea it was 5 times as slow! So if you are testing/developing and reboot a lot, this can make a difference.
