F1 is literally the only thing I have to manually search for to download.  There's no way to automate it with SickBeard.  99% of my downloading is done via Usenet, but since F1 usually shows up on torrents first, that's generally how I have to get it.  Being that F1 is the only thing I torrent, I haven't bothered to try to automate it.

That said, once I move to v6 and can run Flexget and a torrent client in a VM, I may well try to automate it.

Watched the Australian go with interest (highlights on BBC). Interested in all the rule changes, anyone got a link to a good summary?

Also, I read today that beanie is 'horrified' with the new engine noise and vows to do something about it.

(that story also includes a good video that demonstrates very clearly the engine noise differences).

Wikipedia actually has the best summary I could find of the changes in the technical and sporting regulations.

As for Bernie, more hot air to keep F1 in the headlines between races surely.  I seriously doubt they will go changing things at this stage merely because of the exhaust note.

If there's money involved, which Bernie's soundbite indicated there might be, then you can bet your ass he'll do something about it! I enjoyed hearing the tyre squeal, the crowd and other noises but sorely missed the scream. It's my overriding memory of going to F1 races (I've been to Monza and Silverstone) was that engine note and feeling it in your chest. Unreal. Very sad if it's gone. It will be back.

Watch this video. I was amazed at how well done it was.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like it to be back.  But doing so would require a redesign of the exhaust at a minimum (which would have many follow-on consequences) and I think it would be wrong to change things up in the middle of the season for purely aesthetic reasons.  If they want to change it for 2015 I'm all for it, but changing rules mid-season (for anything other than safety reasons) is farcical.

I find it hard to believe there is anything written into the contracts as regards engine note or dB levels, but what do I know.  The only way I see of getting changes pushed through would be via the F1 Strategy Group.  The FIA would most certainly vote against, whilst FOM will vote for.  That means 4 of the 6 teams on the Strategy Group would have to vote with Bernie to get it passed.  I don't see that happening, but who knows what Bernie will bribe them with to get the votes.....

I've never been to an F1 event, but have been to numerous NHRA drag racing events.  Nothing compares to the chest pounding, vision blurring auditory assault produced by an 8000 hp Top Fuel dragster making a 1/4 mile pass.  It would certainly be far less of a spectacle without the noise.

Although if we go back to the season when Jenson won... it got much much closer towards the end of the season, after the rest of the teams caught up.  Double points in the last race too.. sigh.

Ditto. This is how I see it shaking out as well.

Not quite going to predictions so far.  Red Bull seem to be plagued by technical difficulties...  Lewis having some bad luck.  Good to see Williams competitive again.  I was hopeful when Massa signed that they might do better this season.  Also they have the best looking car on the grid.

Agreed.  Merc is tops as suspected, but Nico leading the WDC and not Lewis as I assume most would have predicted.  Very nice to see Williams back on form.

Biggest surprise by far IMHO is Ricciardo blowing Vettel out of the water.  I'm not a fan of Vettel but give credit where credit is due, the guy has 4 WDC's after all.  That said, I've always suspected that his dominance was in large part due to the car and his mastery of the very unnatural driving style of the RB's of past seasons (i.e. on throttle pre-apex to generate higher downforce via the blown diffusers, etc).  This year with wholly different cars (with lots of torque) and not being firmly anchored to the tarmac, Vettel is having difficulties.  I have no doubt he will figure it out and get back towards the top, but I think it's safe to say that if the car isn't absolutely planted, he's obviously not very effective at piloting it.
