February 6, 201412 yr Would we be able to use OpenXenManager with the Xen/unRAID setup or what would be needed to run that program? Sent from my LG-VS980 using Tapatalk
February 7, 201412 yr doesn't look like it You need pygtk You need ubuntu jaunty or debian unstable (glade 3.6 and libgtk 2.16) You need python-gtk-vnc Install rrdtool for graphs To launch openxenmanager: python window.py Please visit #openxenmanager in irc.freenode.net to talk about alpha version Or send me mail to [email protected] with "openxenmanager: " subject

February 7, 201412 yr I was under the impression that xcp-xapi was only available for xen 4.1 atm. Unraid is using the current 4.3 release.
February 7, 201412 yr so does this mean that Archipel would also not work? Archipel works fine with Xen 4.3, search these forums and you'll find people that have got it work... However, with the unique way in which unRAID is built you may well find yourself compiling a custom bzroot if you want these tools.
February 7, 201412 yr would it be possible to implement one of these web interface managers for xen into unraid, as you are the moderator for this forum, maybe you can discuss this with Tom, this should make it beginner friendly like ESXi.
February 7, 201412 yr A GUI won't help you with a headless VM for downloads for example. You'll still need to go command line to start sabnzbd running or something... The commands may seem intimidating but they really aren't that hard. My vids go a long way to making it friendly for newbies. If you buy unRAID I assume that you're comfortable with the idea of typing a few commands into a terminal. Once it's setup, it's set it and forget it.
February 7, 201412 yr no problems with command lines, but more to do the the cfg file... I had a steep learning curve with that already.

When I was new to this I hated the lack of a GUI, but 4 months down the line I am totally comfortable with the basic commands. Editing the config files is the biggest hurdle, understanding what each bit does but you know what? That's called learning! Isn't it fun?! The end results are totally worth the few days of head banging. At least you didn't have to figure it all out with the sketchy documentation that existing before I started writing about this stuff! Big thanks goes to grumpy for helping me for countless hours over Teamviewer in the beginning. He's a good lad.
February 7, 201412 yr so does this mean that Archipel would also not work? Archipel uses libvirt so is a different thing entirely
