didymus7
First a disclaimer, I know little about Linux, but I managed to get an UnRaid server up and running. The problem is that I need to use the motherboard from the UnRaid server to fix another computer. The UnRaid server will be rebuilt with a new MB. The question is, can I just put the disks into the new computer and have the data intact, may after doing a rebuild of the parity drive? Next question: Backup. How would I backup my 1.5 TB of data to a USB disk, preferrably directly on the server so that the network isn't tied up for long? Thanks...Steve Quote Link to comment
splnut
Replacing the motherboard in your UNraid Server: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Replacing_the_Motherboard_in_Your_unRAID_Server Backing up your data to a USB drive? I would look into the Snap plugin to mount the usb drive. Then use screen/mc to copy the files. Quote Link to comment
didymus7
Thanks splnut, exactly what I needed. I'll look up the 'Snap plugin' and the screen/mc command. I'm a linux illiterate....;-) Quote Link to comment
