Python Segfaults - Sabnzbd+Sickbeard - Help Needed

Featured Replies

hi all

im currently using unraid 5.0.5

packages installed:

curl-7.21.4-i486-1            python-2.6.6-i486-1
git-1.7.4.4-i486-1            python-cheetah-2.4.4-i486-1alien
infozip-6.0-i486-1            python-yenc-0.3-i486-1alien
libidn-1.19-i486-1            sqlite-3.7.5-i486-1
openssl-0.9.8r-i486-3         unrar-4.2.4-i486-1alien
par2cmdline_tbb-0.4-i486-1kh  zlib-1.2.5-i486-4
pyopenssl-0.11-i486-1alien

im using influencers plg for SB and SAB, all working fine for a few months, then all of sudden my SAB gui stops responding and says page not found

i can go into unraid gui, settings and restart the SAB service from there but this is hit and miss and if it does start SAB it quickly dies soon after.

I have removed SAB package/plg and started from scratch, i can go through the SAB wizard, set it all up fine, but as soon ad i tell SB to download a file, it sends it to SAB, shows up in SAB queue, starts to download then page doesn't respond, this happens every single time.

ive checked mem usage and its always very low, max i saw it whilst it crashed was:

root@Tower:~# free -m
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:          4020        724       3296          0         58        528
-/+ buffers/cache:        137       3882
Swap:            0          0          0

i have SAB and SB installed in cache/appdata folder, ive tried new permissions options in unraid gui, and also done a manual chmod 777 on cache/appdata folder. I thin kSB is srunning fine does what it is supposed to do, its only when the interaction between SB and SAB occurs SAB crashes

i checked the syslog and i see:

ok, as a test i removed sab plg from unraid and installed it from scratch via the go script method (http://www.lockstockmods.net/2010/06/03/unraid-with-sabnzbd-and-sickbeard/)

left SB as is via install by PLG.

all was fine then 10mins later, SAB died again, with a python error, ive no idea what's going on with, driving me crazy!

do i need to upgrade the python code? if so how do i do this?

If you look closer, you'll see that these errors are related libc-2.11.1.so. My initial thought is that you've got glibc partially installed and that's usually responsible for these segfaults. I don't see it in your install list, but libc is from that package. You could try updating to glibc 2.13, or reinstalling 2.11.1 to see if that makes a difference.

many thanks for the help

ok, tried to install glibc and dont think it worked

ive been doing soem other testes and now the latest fault i get is:

Feb 15 10:10:11 Tower kernel: python[8027]: segfault at 1b2a1690 ip 400f8cd1 sp 42bceb80 error 4 in libpython2.6.so.1.0[40026000+149000]

this is with SAB installed by PLG

im doing a memtest currently, just to be sure it is not memory fault of some kind

where would i find unraid compatible version of libpython2.6.so.1.0 ?

Ah I see now you had 2 sets of segfaults in your original log. One related to glibc (and possibly glibc-solibs), and one to python.

If it were me, my first thing to try would be reinstalling glibc 2.11.1, glibc-solibs 2.11.1, and python 2.6.6.

Installing packages for unraid/slackware is kind of a pain. You can try trolley to make it a bit easier.

trolley install glibc -f
trolley install glibc-solibs -f
trolley install python -f

managed to get this working, not sure how

but i had to shutdown my unraid server yesterday and upon start up its doing it again, python 2.6.6 segfault errors, SAB crashes and SB crashes now aswell.

how do i start from scratch with fresh python and lib installed?

wipe usb and start again? (with data still intact?)
