2 or more couchpotato

Featured Replies

here is the situation

I have a fair amount of unused storage. I would like to have 2 folders say one for 1080p and the other for 720p

Some stuff I use can only run 720p while others can run both.

I currently have couch on port 8083 but could I add another or more

example may be port 8083 for 1080p

port 8088 for 720p

Why not just utilize couchpotato's built in quality settings?

How do you stream your media?

If you have multiple versions of the same movie, Plex, for example, will pick the best resolution FROM your server based upon the viewing device's resolution. But to do that the files need to be in the same folder.

Something that can transcode video on the fly like Plex or AirVideo is probably a better solution to your problem than keeping two different copies of the same video.

ok I looked at plex and may go that way.

now on to another thing.

Down the road I am gonna have a dedicated theater room. It is gonna be decent so sound and video quality will need to be there.

So now I am looking at remux.

I understand remux is "untouched" but my question is will plex work better with a lower quality if I am to trans code?

I want to use xbmc for this theater room
