I have unMENU installed with the smarthistory script/plugin.

A nice feature to log the SMART value changes.

Unfortunately you have to trigger it manually from the unMENU GUI.

 

My intention is to call it out of my powerdown script.

What is the syntax to do this?

How can I trace back what happens when I'm pressing the button on the GUI?

I added this to my script:

[ -x /boot/smarthistory/smarthistory ] && /boot/smarthistory/smarthistory

 

It seems it doesn't work.

Yes, I know you didn't write it, but you invoke/call it out of unMENU.
