any idea what drive is inside?

The ones I've got had green Seagate ST4000DM000

i'm really considering this but i have had bad luck with seagate in the past and recent articles ive read comparing failure rates of various manufacturers doesnt make me feel better about them. i'm conflicted.

on a side note, i hate how newegg consolidated their reviews of hard drive. it makes reading the reviews for the 4tb model so much more difficult when you have to weed through reviews of the 6 other models.

Cheapest isn't always the best value.  I'd spend the extra $$ for the NAS quality drive ... in addition to being designed for 24/7 operation, it's also got a 3 year warranty.

case in point, one of my only remaining seagate drives is failing. it is a refurb too so either i bought it that way (which i doubt) or it is a replacement for one that previously failed. oddly enough an extended smart showed it is fine, despite the spin, click, spin, click it is doing occasionally. maybe i will hold off and find a good deal on a WD.

Everyone I've gotten has the ST4000DM000, except one I got a year ago at Costco which had an ST4000DX000.
