hi all, ive been looking for something that can stream tv/movies over the internet from xbmc for some time, i am well aware of plex but didnt really want the overhead of managing plex just to stream, well i found an web app somebody has developed and thought i would share the link:-

i personally really like the clean ui, much better looking than plex, i have no idea what it would look like on a mobile or even if there is a mobile ui yet but im going to check it out.

Interesting... I like that it has the download option.  Doesn't seem like it can transcode which may be an issue.

I did not read through all of the pages for the XBMC Video Streamer link to understand its capabilities, but one of the great things about using Plex to stream remotely is that it can transcode the video stream to meet the network link bandwidth by automatically reducing the quality.  Not everyone has high upload bandwidth from their home ISP (I don't) and remote network (cellular or wifi) connections are not always great.  I stream to my iPhone, iPad, and laptop to various locations around the world when I travel for work.  Plex works flawlessly for me most every time.

With PlexPass, I can easily sync videos on my iPad for watching offline without a network connection (i.e. long international flights).  The files are transcoded so they don't take nearly as much storage space as the original 1080p files.

And Plex has the ability to download a file from a remote location when using the webapp on a computer.

But that could require transmitting a non-transcoded huge multi-gigabyte file for a 1080p video file.

You beat me to it, I was just going to say use PLEX
