February 20, 201412 yr Hello all! New user to unRAID and Linux... so please forgive my being a newbie! I installed unRAID and my HDDs and all worked fine (through many shut downs and restarts). While parity was doing it's thing, I copied my media data to the drives. While media was being copied I installed tvheadend and plex plugins. When media was done being copied I rebooted to install the plugins. I don't believe the NAS has a IP address and cannot see it on the network. My router automatically assigns IP addresses by MAC to all devices on my network. Since I really don't have a lot of time invested into the OS, I was wondering if just wiping the flash and starting over is a good idea since I probably hosed something during the plugin installation. IF this is a good course, would deleting the files on the flash drive make me have to purchase a new registration key? Also would that cause me to have to start the 12+hour parity check again? thank you in advance for any help that you may be able to offer. Jay syslog.txt
February 20, 201412 yr Your syslog does not seem to contain the error in the subject line of your post. Where are you seeing it? The syslog does seem to indicate that it was able to connect to the internet to download plugins though. Is this the complete syslog? Not a lot of plugins have loaded yet. I don't use tvheadend and I'm not going to read the 57 page thread but you probably should. I think you must be using an old version of tvheadend because your syslog shows that you are using an older version of unRAID. I think tvheadend has to patch unRAID and so you probably have got the old version that way. Probably the best thing for you would be to copy and save your .key file from /boot/config folder. It is your registration key. Then start over with unRAID 5.0.5 which is the latest stable version. If you know your parity is valid you can just reassign your drives and tell it to trust parity. Take it slowly. Make sure each thing is working before you change anything else. And make sure you are trying to use the latest version of tvheadend.
February 20, 201412 yr Author The first time I tried to create the syslog on the flash did not work. So I had to start the system back up to create the syslog on the flash. That time I must not have typed ifconfig eth0 to get the error message that I have listed above in the Subject of this thread. To my knowledge this is the complete syslog. I have only installed the plex and tvheadend plugins. I was running v 5.05. I will start over (one step at a time) get unRAID up and then see if the tvheadend plug in install does the same thing.
February 21, 201412 yr Author Same error msg I deleted all of the files on the flash. Copied 5.05v back onto flash. Started NAS no issues. Added drives back into array, added shares and let it run the parity check. Again no issues. I powerdown the NAS, removed the flash, created the plugins folder, copied just tvheadend plugin to that folder. Restarted NAS, installed tvheadend, from webGUI started tvheadend and added Media Tree. Powerdown NAS and now the NIC isn't found and it wont connect to the network.... Same issue as before. Any advice??? just added syslog as zip files. syslog.zip
February 21, 201412 yr I can't be sure, but there may be a HDHomeRun issue going on. Have you looked at this message about configuring it along with TVHeadEnd? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=20782.msg244741#msg244741 I don't use either one of these, but from your description of your troubleshooting steps it sounds like you should focus, or post a message, on TVHeadEnd, etc. BTW, is the HDHomeRun a card or external box connected by network? Good luck and welcome to unRAID!
February 21, 201412 yr Your syslog still says: Feb 20 19:16:51 MediaServer emhttp: unRAID System Management Utility version 5.0-rc4 where mine says: Feb 18 22:07:20 unSERVER emhttp: unRAID System Management Utility version 5.0.5 Looks like the tvheadend plugin on the github linked at the bottom of the first post in the tvheadend plugin thread is 2 years old. I looked at the plugin code and it looks like it is replacing unRAID with a patched version. Look through the tvheadend thread and see if there is another version available. Maybe start at the end of the thread and work your way back. Or post to that thread and see where others are getting the latest version from.

Good luck and welcome to unRAID! Thanks for the Welcome! I had read kidcastro's instructions and that post (thanks to trurl for mentioning it). I guess I was hoping that the current 5.05 and tvheadend plug in on lime tech webpage incorporated those instructions since they are going back a ways. Per your recommendation, I asked those questions on that post so maybe that'll be the better area to get responses... To answer your question, my HDHomeRun is an external box.

Hopefully I'll get some info, or i'll try kidcastro's instructions with the older versions and see if that works for me.
