Are the PCI SATA Controllers shown on the hardware compatibility page "plug and play" or do I need to install drivers somehow?

    Anything listed as compatible already has the appropriate drivers included in the unRAID distribution.  The Linux kernel should identify it, and load the correct driver.

    I would recommend the supermicro one. The Promise was good but when i added more than 2 my system crashed non stop. The supermicro works a treat and dependent on location is WAY cheaper per port
