March 1, 201412 yr I am just after starting,my server. Copied across some of my data and all looking good. I have even transfered files from my phone over wifi. Was trying to send a file to the server and keeps telling me request refused. I have noticed there are 34k errors on disk 2.......wtf This is a copy of the log. /usr/bin/tail -f /var/log/syslog Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer shfs/user: shfs_read: read: (5) Input/output error Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer shfs/user: shfs_read: read: (5) Input/output error Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer kernel: quiet_error: 8 callbacks suppressed Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer kernel: Buffer I/O error on device md2, logical block 459966465 Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer kernel: Buffer I/O error on device md2, logical block 459966465 Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer shfs/user: shfs_read: read: (5) Input/output error Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer shfs/user: shfs_read: read: (5) Input/output error Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer kernel: Buffer I/O error on device md2, logical block 459966469 Mar 1 20:00:50 HPServer kernel: Buffer I/O error on device md2, logical block 459966469 Mar 1 20:01:08 HPServer kernel: program smartctl is using a deprecated SCSI ioctl, please convert it to SG_IO Any ideas. Disk 2 keeps flashing green and white even if I try and spin it up. With in a few mins it back to flashing again. Spin down is set to 1hr. And reports that disk is blank.
March 1, 201412 yr Author Using unraid 5.0.5 and the issue drive is a WD 2tb green drive and using a Hp microserver which is brand spanking new.
March 1, 201412 yr Are you trying to write directly to the disk or to a user share? Post the complete syslog.
March 1, 201412 yr Check your cables. Disk2 still had a pending reallocation at the end of preclear. Preclear it again and see if it goes away.
March 1, 201412 yr Author I assume I can just stop the array. Remove disk 2 and preclear it again. And just add it back it once complete. Also check cables. I have about 1tb of info written to disk one. Will this need to redone?
March 2, 201412 yr Data on other disk will be fine. I don't think there was a parity drive was there? If so then of course parity would have to be rebuilt. After the preclear you might post the preclear results on this thread for confirmation that is is OK.
March 3, 201412 yr Author I have rerun the preclear on two drives. Did I work this time, more worried about the 3tb Drive than the 250gb as that drive is only new. syslog-2014-03-03.txt
