[SOLVED] Licence question

Featured Replies

]Hi ... i'm populating my microserver with 4TB drives. Currently have 1x4TB parity drive & 2xoriginal 250GB drices tgat came with the servers (i bought two). Have now added a second 4TB drive to the box in order to preclear but it doesnt want to know, emitting a low pitched beeping sound and not booting. As this is the 4th drive to be added to the box, not yet to the array, is this a licencing problem stopping unraid from booting or should i be looking elsewhere ie dead drive? Currently running the existing 3 drives unlicensed. This latest drive will need to be precleared before adding to the array and at that point i appreciate a licence will be needed unless i pull one of the existing 250GB drives to make way for it.

it is not unraid license issue.

unriad license only affect your ability to use more than 3 drives in array.

it either bad drive(easily tested by connecting the drive to other PC)

bad drive cable(see above)

or limitation of bios

check out this thread "http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=11585.240"

you might need BIOS update or configuration

Thanks.

I moved the drive which wasn't posting to another slot on the backplane and guess what ... it still didn't work so i'm guessing it's a DOA. Dont think it's a BIOS problem as i already have a similar drive (SEAGATE 4TB NAS) drive running as my parity disc. I'm going to try it in another machine first before RMA'ing.

Update .... disk now RMA'd. When I removed it from the server i could hear its internals moving so guess it's had a knock at some time. Just had another drive delivered and it's preclearing as I write ... just 99 hours to go  :D
