Flash drive not booting

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Randomly today my flash drive is refusing to boot. I have a few plugins installed along with the dynamix 2.2.1 webgui. If I wipe the drive and reinstall Unraid 5.0.5 it boots up just fine but if I put my config folder back on the drive it refuses to boot.

Here is the log file: http://www.dropbox.com/s/exhm93f8wulfns2/syslog-20140306-035428.txt

You say it won't boot but I think you must mean that it stops working after it boots. If it weren't booting you wouldn't be able to get a syslog.

Do you have a monitor attached? If so what do you see when you try to boot? Can you get to the web interface at all?

This is not the complete syslog. It doesn't have any of the plugins loading and other stuff that happens in the beginning. It does have a lot of errors about a disk being full that seems to be associated with Crashplan. It's possible that your log is getting so large that it consumes so much memory that critical processes like the web interface are being shut down. Maybe reboot and give us a syslog after just a few hours of runtime.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. I did some more troubleshooting and here's what I've discovered:

I disconnected all my drives I was able to boot to the tower login prompt, before I would get an error message that 'no boot device was discovered and to connect a device and press any key', a BIOS error message.

I shut down the server and then reconnected my drives and now get the tower login prompt (woot!). I have 8 drives connected via internal SATA connections to the motherboard and a SUPERMICRO AOC-SASLP-MV8 card. The mother board is a Gigabyte Z87-D3HP. I am able to see the server via the web interface. I'm going to run a parity check to make sure everything is ok.
