March 7, 201412 yr I have a Pentium G2030, 300watt SFX PSU, 2x2TB & 1x3TB HDDs laying around I am thinking of reusing as a unRAID server. But before I can get to work I need a good motherboard as my base... I want it to be ITX. 4x SATA ports as minimum. Socket 1155 so I can use this CPU. What to buy??

March 8, 201412 yr Author This would work nicely: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131878 Looks nice and cheap but I actually already have a Gigabyte GA-B75N in another one of my machines at home, could I reuse that board in unRAID without trouble??
March 8, 201412 yr Should work fine. Simple to test -- just boot with an UnRAID flash drive and confirm it boots okay; sees your drives; and works with your NIC (i.e. you can access the Web GUI). Do NOT assign any drives to UnRAID when you do that -- if you do, it'll format them and wipe out your current data. But it's completely safe to just boot to UnRAID; look at the drive assignment drop-downs to see which drives it shows; and to access the Web GUI from another PC.
