March 8, 201412 yr Hi I want to basically turn 3 computers into 1 big one as this saves power money and time. My unraid nas My game server Bitcoin mining host The motherboard http://www.asrock.com/server/overview.asp?cat=Manual&Model=C226%20WS Has good PCI spacing for the Bitcoin miners good amount of sata ports and good cpu support unsure about iommu support but says it has Intel visualization support. The CPU http://ark.intel.com/products/75464/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E3-1275-v3-8M-Cache-3_50-GHz Powerful has on chip gpu Ram 4gb of crucial ecc ram will take it up to 8gb or maybe 16gb depends on money Hdds 2x 2tb seagate barracuda drives for data 1x 320gb Toshiba laptop drive for cache and 1x 200gb western digital drive for the other os's (will probably replace this with a ssd) PSU corshair 750 watt 80+ bronze will be replaced at a later date when needed. Case http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SA-005-OP&groupid=2362&catid=2740 Now im unsure weather to have unraid as the host or debian as both have pros and cons. Unraid as host pros Hard drive's easly set up Low system overhead Cons No idea weather the Bitcoin miners can be passed through or not Game server's may not run as fast Debian pros No pci's need to be passed through Game server will run normally Cons Passing through the hard drives and setting them up will be a pain Usb passthough may not work properly meaning plus/pro key may not work Not sure weather this will be possible but the motherboard has 2 Ethernet controller's and I want to passthrough one of them to the guest os and leave one to the host but still have a bridge between them as plex will be running on Debian and having it read the videos over the Ethernet then send them back over the Ethernet is a waste of bandwidth The reason I want to do this is to make sure there are no ping issues on the game servers also unraid does not take to much bandwidth and cause lag on the game servers also I get twice the bandwidth. I know I could use bonding but i tend to get a lot of issues when I do. As in it just don't work or the guest OS is unable to get an IP and doesn't generally connect properly. Any comment's or ideas will be much appreciated.
