March 10, 201412 yr Hi, before considering a purchase i was wondering how many people maintain / update / fix unRAID. How many people work for Lime Tech ? Also, i was reading about if the usb pen dies (happens a lot) that the company will give you a key in kindness. Is there not some better registration process rather than on a wish and a prayer ? Something where by you have an account with access to an authorised image file set against your ordernumber etc.. thanks Megz
March 10, 201412 yr If uptime is a concern then having spare parts is mandatory. At least a spare drive in case of failure and a spare USB key. Second keys are available for $30.

In my case im considering two instances, with two separate physical boxes, one master one as a backup. also you didnt answer the first question. Seen as your here.. does unraid have a master slave option ? i mean to say ... primary and backup. So, that you can push all your files (manual button press mirror copy style on the webgui) if not what is the best way to copy files from unraid "master" to unraid "backup" from the gui ? cheers megz
March 10, 201412 yr I don't think there is a master/slave option but there are people who use cron/rsync script to do backup the way you describing. just search for rsync here , you should find some posts. as for your other question, I am not sure how many people support unRaid other than Tom. but there is plenty of support on this forum to solve most of the issues other than actual problem with code as in a real bug in the system. a basic unRaid setup have been polished nicely for general use. I have been running a free(3 drive) multimedia file setup for almost 3 years with no issues what so ever. really set it and forget it kind of setup. the only time I touch it is when I have power out and need to shut it down or power up. at the moment I only have 2T of data on it thus not got the license yet.

March 10, 201412 yr can you run free then upgrade the licence without trashing the whole build ?Yep. The license key will allow the extra drive slots to show up, and adds the extra security options. Your current configuration with the free version is not changed at all.
March 10, 201412 yr as jonathanm said. you just drop the license file onto your usb stick OR if you need different usb stick (the license is tied to the flash drive GUID) you prepare the flash drive you use for licensing and copy all files from your test flash to the new one. including license and boot from that.
