Cpu compatability question

I am in the process of building an unraid server for my son, after reading a bit in the forums have purchased an Asrock Z87E-ITX. I have a Xeon E3-1225 believe it is version 1, please could anyone tell me if it is compatible with the m/b.....Thanks

They are not compatible as the z87e-itx needs an LGA1150  package CPU and the E3-1225v1 is a LGA 1155 CPU. You need either a E3-12xx v3 series Xeon CPU (LGA1150) or one of Haswell series desktop CPUs.  Or a motherboard that's compatible with Sandy bridge or ivy bridge CPUs though still need to check manual for Xeon compatibility to make sure the cpu is recognized by the bios.

As noted above, the CPU and motherboard you have are NOT compatible.  Here's the CPU Support list for the motherboard you purchased:

Thanks fortunately I do have a compatible processor was hoping I could use it for something else.
