March 15, 201412 yr Hi, I have an Unraid array and have just swapped out my parity drive for a new drive (and ran parity check). I now want to replace disk 4 (a 500GB) with the old parity drive (2TB). I understood to take the array offline, power down, swap drives and then when I assign disk 4 to the new drive it would blue ball, then I should say "I'm sure". However, when I powered up and selected the 2TB drive it say "wrong" (with red ball). Is this because it senses it's already formatted and is the wrong drive? Can I proceed anyway and this drive will be overwritten or will it trust the 2TB drive and lose my data? Thanks, Jim
March 15, 201412 yr Author Hi, sorry, not at the server at the moment so can't. Surely what I described is enough though?
March 16, 201412 yr Author Any ideas guys? The old 500GB drive has gone so I cant put that back, so I need to make sure I get this right. It says "Start will bring the array on-line, start Data-Rebuild, and then expand the file system.", which sounds right to me, but the wiki post I read said it should be a blue ball next to the drive, so I need to be sure.
