SuperMicro H8DME-2 Ram

Featured Replies

I just ordered 2 6-Core processors (2419 EE) and I want to also get some more ram. Can I mix new ram with the ram that is in it? Do I have to get 2GB sticks or can I get a couple 4GB sticks? Basically I'm just looking for someone else who has upgraded their RAM in one of the TAM solution boxes. Also, if anyone can suggest a simple heatsink/fan (amazon link :) that would be awesome.

hi, read my sig for the new build for more info but

#1 yes you can mix the RAM but make sure that old ram stays in slots close to the CPU.

not sure why it's important but it seams to work better that way. when I added more ram I had an issue until I read it about that trick some where on the net.

simple heat-sinks  do not work well with 6-cores

I tried several different coolers until  I got 2 Cooler Master HYPER T4  for my server that did the trick

the Cooler Master HYPER 212 EVO a little bit too high.  also I know that opteron is not on the compartible list for this coolers but they fit perfectly using the snap-in mount

good luck

Also you do know that it uses ddr2 pc2 ram?

4gb sticks are expansive like hell. Watch for a good deal on ebay if you can

Awesome thanks. It cracks me up the heat sinks are more than the processors themselves. That's crazy.
