March 22, 201412 yr hi all... i have a great unraid setup and been using for over two years recently i have a problem... i have an 18 drive share for my media and a 2 drive share for my comics i can't copy anything to the comics share, it keeps saying 'not enough space available'. one of the two shared drives is 100% full, and the other is almost empty (but does have a few files on it). in windows, the view of the share says there is 2tb free, which is correct because there is a completely empty drive in the share! i have the drive set to high water, but this doesnt seem to be working. also have the included set to disk18,disk19 (exactly like that, no space) and exclude set to all other disks. cache disk set to 'no' i could add any screencaps if anyone thinks it will be helpful... not sure what to do!
March 22, 201412 yr also have the included set to disk18,disk19 (exactly like that, no space) and exclude set to all other disks.I don't know if it's causing your issue, but in the past Tom has said only use one or the other, not both include and exclude.
March 22, 201412 yr It might be worth providing a screenshot of the Settings for the share that is having problems? What is the path you are trying to copy to, and what are the Split Level settings for the share in question? It might be the Split Level setting that is constraining unRAID to try and put the file in question on the full disk. You could also try manually moving files from disk18 to disk19 so they are more evenly used.
March 22, 201412 yr As jonathanm noted, you do NOT want to use BOTH Includes and Excludes. Use one or the other. I'd delete all the excludes (just leave that field blank), and just list the two disks in the Includes field (as you've already done). Then reboot the system, and see if that resolves this.
March 23, 201412 yr Author ok adjusted to remove excludes... also copied a bit over from the full disk to the mostly empty disk. did reboot. then copied 5 gb over, seemed like some went to each disk. so i think ok for now. not sure why all didn't just go to empty disk. since i'm set at high water, and one disk is full, wouldn't it just use the empty disk?
March 23, 201412 yr itimpi's observation that you have may 'split level' causing writes to the nearly full disk still applies. What split level do you use for the shares that are on disk18?
March 23, 201412 yr And is the problem gone? You removed the include/exclude settings. And moved some files onto the was-empty-disk. If the user share's allocation method is now 'high water', it *should* be writing to the nearly empty disk. Is it? If you set share allocation to 'most free', does it write?
