New drive not shared

Featured Replies

I am running version: 5.0-rc12a with an 11 drive + 3Tb Parity array and have just added a 12th drive.

I have just added a new drive to the array and it all seems OK in the Device Status page. I can see the drive from my PC and Write and read from it from the PC.

However it is not showing up on my shares, or at least the reported free space has not increased. It was showing 2.4Tb free and I have added another 2Tb but it is still showing 2.4Tb Free.

The Share is "Media" and there is nothing in the sections for included or excluded disks. I did try including all the disks but this did not work either.

I know that I must be doing something basic wrong but what is it?

The space will be included once the User share has spread to the disk.

As dgaschk noted, there won't be anything written to the disk until your specified allocation method results in that drive being used.    Leave the includes & excludes blank (unless you actually want to specify specific drives for a share -- and never use both of them).

Go to the settings tab and check the global share settings and make sure you don't have include or exclude settings there.

If that is good try stopping and starting the array.

Thanks for that it was, as Lionel suspected, in the global share settings that I had an include list which did not include the new drive.

All is well now, thanks for the help.
