VDR, TVHeadend, unRAID 6 x64

Any advice on how to get a "Gateway DX4300 Yuan PE-988 REV:3.2A PCIe x1 CATV/S-Video TV/FM Tuner Card" to work? I have installed everything and it all appears to be fins except it will not detect the tuner card (i am assuming not supported / driver issues).

MEDIA tree: DETECTED

DVB tuner: NOT DETECTED

Tvheadend login/password: ACCEPTED

I suppose your driver is not in kernel and thus not contained in the media build... try to search google for the model + "linux" to find out more.

@piotrasd:

is it possible to compile the new beta13 kernel? It would be great :-)

yeep, but im work to friday :( i try put new image on weekend

Don't stress yourself [emoji6]

Thanks very much!

@piotrasd:

I understand why the 6b13 media build was skipped with the many issues at release, I was just wondering if you could do a 6b14 media build whenever you get the time?

Moving my TVheadend setup to my unRAID box has been brilliant and I'm looking to update!

Thanks for all your work,

The Capt.

+1

I'm interested in giving TVHeadEnd a try as well, only problem is my TBS6285 DVB-T2 Quad Tuner doesn't have drivers in the media build I don't think.

I'm in no desperate rush though as I'm passing it through to a KVM VM and running Win7 with Argus TV.

So if you get the chance that would be great, but if it's too much trouble then I understand.

A small How-To that shows how to build everything by your self would be excellent.  ;)

I am always pointing at this wiki site: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Installing_Tvheadend_in_unRAID

I updated it once with additional info for version 5.0.5

For version 6 it should be the same, you need newer dev tools (from slack 14.1 I guess) and kernel headers. I updated this wiki with a screenshot of the old dev tools. Its a start but i dont have time to try. It would be very helpfull for all of us if someone could upate this article once succeeded :)

Yep fully agree. I would be a pity if such things get lost because the main developers get stuck in Real Life or switch over to another NAS Solution etc. These are thing which always can happen.

I have to see if i can build a dev system out of old components i still have.

today i will upload unraid beta14b with media ;) just wait ... and maybe over weekend i prepare some guide ;)

Would be cool. I think i have all the programs, headers etc. together to make an build.

But had no time to test. Also i dont know if i need the Media Tree by LinuxTV and where to get FW Files etc.

Also i have seen that you applied some patches from OpenElec.

Long story short, it would be really appreciated if you could write down some infos on the build process, especially how to apply the unRaid Patches to the Kernel. Maybe it is possible to automate the process of building a bit more.

Do you think it will be possible to include VDR Mcli Plugin in future?

It will be extremely handy for owners of Reel Multimedia Netceiver hardware.

The Netceiver is not occupying precious PCI-E slots but is a part from the user's LAN.

Yes. but i dont have time to next week

Hi piotrasd,

any chance to see netceiver support soon as you promised earlier?

Hello,

i have made upgrade to the lastest beta unraid 14b and all works. I have no media tree now. Watching iptv without any problems. How is that possible?

It's possible because you only need the dvb drivers for a DVB-S/C/T card.

You receive IPTV through your network.

... and maybe over weekend i prepare some guide ;)

I would be very interested in this as well. Thank you in advance!

Just seen this piotrasd, currently running parity check, will try and then post results here.

Thanks very much.

Rather embarassingly, and I'm blaming my prolonged absence from Unraid and the fact that dockers and VM's have made life a lot easier nowadays...

I've forgotten how to install packages!!

Anyone care to enlighten me?  :-[

:D

installpkg tvheadend.txz

Thanks Mettbrot, just tried modifying your plugin and managed to hang my server with the testing! ::)

The Problem Is the Format of the packages, mine has tgz I think and you need txz. When you try, remove all tv headend packages from /boot/packages and edit the plg file to download the piotrasd file. Then install it.
