Hi All,

 

Looking to build the following to replace my ageing HP Microserver. Debating on what CPU to use whether it be a Xeon or Desktop type. Wanting to chuck ESXi and unRAID on there hosting Plex, SabNZBd and NZBDrone. Currently Plex can only handle on stream so looking at upping this to 3-4.

 

Case: Fractal Design Define XL R2

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 AMD 970

CPU: AMD Piledriver FX-8 8350

RAM:Corsair Vengeance Pro Gold 16GB

PSU: Corsair RM 650

Datastore: Corsair Neutron GTX 240GB

Storage Drives: 4 x Western Digital Caviar Red 4TB

 

Any feedback would be great.

    Sounds like you want to maximize performance -- so I'd use an Intel motherboard and CPU.  Probably go with a Haswell-based Xeon.
