Question: Planning to move my Unraid setup to a newer case which has more drive bays

 

Do I need to install the current set of HD's back in the new case on exactly the same SATA ports from the original setup or can one simply plug in all the drives on any SATA port in the new case?

 

No change to the motherboard and/or drives.

 

I suspect of course one just to make sure in the GUI to assign the parity to the parity HD that was in the original case.

    Starting with version 5 unRAID keeps track of drive assignments by serial number so you should be able to just start it up.
