New Build for v6 and VM's

Featured Replies

I'm looking to build a new unRaid box and looking to get my feet wet in v6 and VM's to run my plugins (SB,Sab+,CP, MySQL, AirVideo) and either linux Mint or Ubuuntu to practice/play around with pyhton programming and Android for creating custom ROMs.

My old unRaid box will become my back-up, only to be turned on either once a month or every 2 weeks to copy from the main.

Here are the parts I'm looking at getting.  I already have a case, Antec 1200, and an Areca 1280ML 16-port card that I will be using.

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($159.99 @ Micro Center)

Motherboard:  ASRock Z87 Extreme6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($154.99 @ Micro Center)

Memory:  Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($138.99 @ Newegg)

Power Supply:  SeaSonic 660W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($146.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Total: $600.95

Am I missing something or are some parts not compatible?

TIA!

So other than the psu, does the build look good to go?

I am using that board and CPU in my unit, with a bit more RAM and PSU wattage to overbuild. I was thinking that I might add a video card at some point so I wanted the headroom on the PSU. All that aside, the board and CPU are top notch values.
