Did I kill my M1015?

Featured Replies

I recently got an M1015 card and tried (unsuccessfully) to flash it to SAS2008 for IT mode following the steps outlined here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12767.msg121131#msg121131. I think it's partially due to the fact that my motherboard already has an onboard LSI SAS2008 (I thought I had disabled it in the BIOS, but I didn't disable it via the jumpers).

Timeline of events:

[*]Wrote a clean sbr file to the controller (megarec -writesbr 0 empty.bin)

[*]Cleaned the flash (megarec -cleanflash 0)

[*]Restarted

[*]At this point, I attempted to flash to IT mode via sas2flsh (sas2flsh -o -f 2118it.bin -b mptsas2.rom)

[*]The flash failed, complaining that it could not downgrade 'NVDATA version xxx to xxx.'

[*]It was then I realized that I didn't actually disable my onboard SAS2008 before attempting to flash the M1015, so I shut down in an attempt to fix the jumper configuration to disable it

[*]Upon reboot, sas2flsh gives me the error: "No LSI SAS adapters found!" and megarec: "No MR controllers found"

So it seems I'm in limbo, where neither sas2flsh or megarec recognizes my M1015. I've tried different PCI slots/motherboards and get the same result. Any other ideas before I accept the fact that I killed my M1015?

Thanks in advance!

If the ROMs are not soldered in, there may yet be hope. But you'd need to find an EE with the ability copy a ROM for you. Not sure worth the trouble for $100.
