April 14, 201412 yr So, I upgraded to v6b4 today. copying the bzimage and bzroot files didn't work, so I decided to just format the USB and start fresh. I backed up the config folder before formatting, but since I haven't had any coffee yet today (and I'm a bit of an idiot sometimes), I backed it up to the array. So, now that I've formatted the drive, and rebooted the server, I have no config, and can't find the config folder to fix my stupid mistake. I had the server assigned to a custom IP, which is in my private/family IP range, and nothing I've tried so far has gotten me any closer to finding my 'missing' folder, or even allowed me to see the server from windows. I have access fine from the machine, but there is no /mnt/cache/ directory/folder, and I don't know how to get to my config. It's been so long since I installed unRAID, I'm not sure what the default IP is for unRAID and //tower isn't taking me there, probably since I'm in a different IP range. please help an idiot recover
April 14, 201412 yr Did you back it up to your cache drive? If so you can mount your cache drive from the command line.

April 14, 201412 yr There's a thread to partition & mount ssd outside of array. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=30496.msg274119.msg#274119 Skip step one cause you don't wanna format or partition your cache drive. You'll need to know which drive is your cache, you'll have to mkdir (ie /mnt/tmp), then you'll have to mount cache partition to directory. Instead of -t ext4 you'll use -t reiserfs After your successful and done getting your config you'll need to umount /mnt/tmp. Sorry I'm on tapatalk or I could give you better instructions but that thread should give you an idea.
April 15, 201412 yr Author Thanks for the link. I struggled to get this resolved, because I have a dozen drives, and none of the output screens showed info for all my drives. To make matters worse, my internet went out until about 11pm last night, so I only had the page you linked in my browser to use for reference to resolve this, and could not 'google' any help. I finally figured out that shift-page up will scroll the screen and allowed me to figure out which drive was my cache drive. After several hours of working on this, I finally found the config folder, and used Midnight Commander to copy the relevant stuff to the current config folder, and now have everything working again. I tried to install Dynamix, as I like the extra info it provides, but it seems to be incompatible with v6b4 Hopefully I can get everything working again as it was before, then can begin to tackle getting VM's setup and working on this box. Thanks again for you help!
April 15, 201412 yr I tried to install Dynamix, as I like the extra info it provides, but it seems to be incompatible with v6b4 Yes, this appears to be the case. I would like to get Dynamix back as well so am keeping my eyes open for an update.
April 15, 201412 yr Kinda like locking your keys in the car. Glad you got it figured out. I miss some things about Dynamix but also like the stability of default webui and no plugins except apcupsd. And boot time is 5x faster without having to reinstall every package at boot. Just start up a vm with everything ready to go.

I would like to get Dynamix back as well so am keeping my eyes open for an update. I waited a while to see if it would be updated, but finally decided to move forward. APCUPSD plugin is still working for me. Looks like someone is working on getting email notifications in unMenu working on x64 so if that gets going I will have most of what I depended on from Dynamix anyway. I expect there will be a few more iterations of this beta that will have the potential to break things in any 3rd party code so probably better to run lean for now.
April 15, 201412 yr Author Yeah, I just removed all the Dynamix plugins and am just about to reboot. Sadly, I can't see anything in the web GUI at the moment, so I'm not sure if the parity check is done, and I don't know how to reboot into the XEN/unRAID option without actually looking at the monitor connected directly to unRAID, so I'm going to have to re-connect a monitor to reboot. Oh well, should be a one-time issue. Next, I have to figure out how to setup a VM to run SABnzbd and SickBeard, then another to run Windows. I had to cannibalize the HTPC to put the memory on the new motherboard (neglected to order new memory), so I currently have no Media Center running. thanks again for all the help.
