April 15, 201412 yr Hi folks, after many moons of traveling, I have finally returned home and put together my new unRaid server (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/helpermonkey/saved/31UO). In searching through the forums, I'm having a hard time finding a how to guide on pre-clearing. A kindly gent on this forum sent me some info on this but i've sadly misplaced that email! Does anyone know of a guide or will anyone be willing to throw one together? I have assembled the pc, but have yet to do anything with it. It has yet to be plugged in and turned on in fact :-)
April 15, 201412 yr Pre-clearing is covered well here (by the author of the utility): http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2817.0 You should, of course, turn on your system and confirm all is well -- boot to your UnRAID flash drive and select MemTest ... then let that run for 8-10 hours or so (longer is better). Then reboot and boot to UnRAID ... and go to //Tower from a web browser on another PC to confirm everything's working okay and your network is all in order. THEN you can log into the UnRAID console and pre-clear your disks to give them a thorough workout before you use them.
