April 16, 201412 yr I just moved to v6b4 and installed the ArchVM image provided by IronicBadger (THANK YOU for providing this!!), and now have SABnzbd installed and running in the VM. I had a bunch of stuff in line to be downloaded in SABnzbd plugin, and am hoping to 'transfer' this, and my old settings to the new app I installed. Is it just a matter of copying the config.ini from the old location (/mnt/cache/plugins/sabnzbd/) to the new location (/opt/sabnzbd)? If so, how do I actually do that? I can't see the /opt/sabnzbd location from unRAID, and I don't know which command would copy from the /cache/plugins folder to here from within the VM itself. Would I also want to copy the folders from the old to new locations? I have the following folders in the old location... admin Downloads logs Is anything else necessary, or is this just all wrong, and if so, what should I do, or is it even possible? Finally, the old config.ini refers to unRAID locations like /mnt/user/video/movies and /mnt/cache/plugins/sickbeard/autoProcessTV Do I need to do any customization in the ArchVM before using these locations, or will it know what these paths refer to? Sorry for so many questions lately, this is all new to me. I hope they will serve as a benefit to others that follow
April 17, 201412 yr Any reason you can't just move arch.IMG around? That would leave everything in tact inside the VM. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
April 17, 201412 yr hi ive gone through all this myself :-), replies as follows Is it just a matter of copying the config.ini from the old location (/mnt/cache/plugins/sabnzbd/) to the new location (/opt/sabnzbd)? If so, how do I actually do that? I can't see the /opt/sabnzbd location from unRAID, and I don't know which command would copy from the /cache/plugins folder to here from within the VM itself. yes you can copy the config.ini but there are a lot of things you would need to tweak in order to get everything working correctly (more on that in a min), unless you have put A LOT of work into your sab config i wouldn't bother copying it over. just incase you decide you still want to go ahead with this, the easiest way to copy directly to your archvm is to install openssh, then use something like winscp to copy to/from the vm, this works a treat!. Would I also want to copy the folders from the old to new locations? I have the following folders in the old location... admin Downloads logs again, yes you could do this but some of this wont work as the install location has changed, i would move anything out of your completed folder to your array and then just go from scratch with the new install of sab leaving admin and logs as is. Finally, the old config.ini refers to unRAID locations like /mnt/user/video/movies and /mnt/cache/plugins/sickbeard/autoProcessTV Do I need to do any customization in the ArchVM before using these locations, or will it know what these paths refer to? this depends on whether you use an entry in fstab or whether you use autofs, my money is on autofs as it just works with beta4, if you use autofs then the path will change by pre-pending with /net/<name of your unraid server> so for instance:- /net/<unraid server name>/mnt/user/video/movies obviously your sickbeard path is going to change radically, as im assuming you will be running this also in the archvm, so the path would be something more along the lines of:- /opt/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/ so in short, yes you could copy your settings across but its easier to bite the bullet and go from scratch, at least this is true for sabnzbd, sickbeard and couch might be a different matter as there is more work in setting up the config.

I spent most of last night working on this, and thought I pretty much had it resolved, but I think I've got some permissions issues somewhere as nothing is working quite right. SABnzbd has the queue right, and is downloading as it should, but it's telling me "PostProcessing was aborted (Cannot create final folder /net/media/mnt/user/video/TV/Archive/NOVA S41E16 720p HDTV x264-BAJSKORV) " for all the finished downloads. I see no reason it shouldn't be able to create new files/folders. Also, I tried selecting the /opt/sickbeard/autoProcessTV folder about 50 times, but whenever I'd navigate away from the page, then go back, the option didn't stick. I finally restarted SAB and the change was there, as it was supposed to be. I didn't have to re-select it, it was already showing up. That can't be right. Also, SickBeard is giving me errors like "2014-04-17 13:57:17 SEARCHQUEUE-RSS-SEARCH :: Unknown failure sending NZB to sab. Return text is: " and isn't putting the nzb into the SAB queue. I've checked the settings multiple times and it confirms "Success. Connected and authenticated" with my SAB settings (using either localhost or my IP). I'm not sure it's worth continuing to troubleshoot this, as I really have no idea where to look, or what the problem is at this point. So, in short, yes, I would probably have been WAY better off just starting from scratch in the VM. I suppose I'm going to build a new VM from scratch and start over, but I'm so frustrated right now, I'm not going to do it today. I'm going to be gone all weekend, so I guess this is a project for next week
April 17, 201412 yr why did you choose arch to use for this? there is plenty of guides for ubuntu setup that actually work very well
April 17, 201412 yr Author why did you choose arch to use for this? there is plenty of guides for ubuntu setup that actually work very well IronicBadger's thread seemed like a good place to start, and the videos walking you thru the setup were easy to follow. Now that I understand the process a lot more/better, I think I'm going to try again with something else; either Ubuntu or Tretflix. Can you suggest a guide, or method for me? Thanks
April 17, 201412 yr well if you search for subnzb+sick beard setup guide but here is a few to get you started http://ziggyzero.wordpress.com/2012/10/26/media-server-setup-guide-ubuntu-server-12-04/ http://lefoxdufue.wordpress.com/2013/01/12/install-sabnzbd-sickbeard-transmission-on-ubuntu-12-04/ http://www.htpcbeginner.com/how-to-configure-sabnzbd/

I thought you meant guides for setting up a Ubuntu VM on unRAID. I know how to setup SAB & Sick by themselves, it was getting the settings copied to the VM that didn't work for me. I'll worry about all this again next week.
April 17, 201412 yr ok initial thoughts on your latest post:- SABnzbd has the queue right, and is downloading as it should, but it's telling me "PostProcessing was aborted (Cannot create final folder /net/media/mnt/user/video/TV/Archive/NOVA S41E16 720p HDTV x264-BAJSKORV) " for all the finished downloads. I see no reason it shouldn't be able to create new files/folders. this sounds to be permissions related, is the folder its trying to write to set as user nobody as owner or is it set to root?, reason i ask is that the vm using autofs will be authenticating with unraid using the nobody account and thus must have read and write permissions to the destination. That can't be right. sickbeard runs as user account "sickbeard" in the arch vm, this may well of set owner to sickbeard on the autoprocesstv folder so again you might be getting tripped up on permissions, might be worth a look before you blat it and throw in the towel edit - just setup sickbeard as a test to see if it will talk to sabnzbd ok, just to rule out any issues with the app, and it worked first time off, i can see it talking directly to sab and queuing items as i type, i know this doesnt help you a lot, but i thought i would at least let you know it IS possible to get this going.
April 17, 201412 yr I did this for sab, sickb and couch. ALL of the issues I had were due to permissions. Make sure you get those straight. For sab and sick, all the config files should be in their data directories. For couchpotato though, the unraid plugin kept the main config file on the flash drive for some reason along with the plugin files. So transfer all of them, change the users to whatever users the arch ones are running as.
April 18, 201412 yr Author Yeah, i figure its a permissions thing, bit im still learning how to read and change them. My big problem with this situation is that I don't really know which folders and files should have which permissions, so I'm not sure how to figure which are wrong, nor how to fix them. I may just create a new VM and install both from scratch to see which permissions they have, but even then, I'm not sure I could 'copy' them to the existing install. I'm away until Monday, so I'll worry about it then, but if anyone wants to give MW some guidance in the meantime, I'd sure appreciate it. Either way, thanks for all the help so far.
April 23, 201412 yr Author Finally got home to find my internet down. I finally have it working again, and am wanting to resolve this permissions issue now. All my downloads have finished downloading, but none could use/run the autoProcessTV script, so nothing has been moved to the right location yet. In fact, none of the files have been repaired, so I just have a lot of rar files in various folders. I can process all of them manually, but that won't help get my permissions worked out. Can anyone help me out by showing me what permissions I should have, on which folders and which files, so that I can try to get my current, almost working setup fixed? I could just create a new VM and start from scratch, but I'd prefer to get my current setup fixed, if possible. Thanks in advance for any help.
