April 17, 201412 yr I'm new to ESXi but had unRAID running smooth for awhile with all the hardware. I've read a lot of forum posts and never saw or found an official answer. I saw the "hack" for AOC-SASLP-MV8 passthrough but with the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 ESXi doesn't seem to be acting the same. I'm running ESXi 5.0u3 and my AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 card is coming up as unknown:unknown. If I pass it through and attempt to run my unraid server things seem "ok" until I start the array. Then i get failures all over from unraid and all drives show up as unformatted. My question - has anyone successfully been able to pass through this card? If so what version of ESXi are you using and did you need to do any "tweaks"? Thanks in advance!
April 18, 201412 yr Not using that card but try a different version like 5.1 or 5.5. I had an issue with 5.5 where a card was recognised, passed through but then started getting weird issues. Went to 5.1 and it has been better since. Josh
April 18, 201412 yr Author hmm.... alright I'm give 5.1 a shot tonight. Hopefully upgrading is fairly easy... *gets hit googlefu on*
June 2, 201412 yr Author Just an update (6/1/2014) Continued to have stability issues in 5.1 Some boots it would work and an hour later drives would stop working. Went an purchased a M1015 flashed to IT mode and everything has been smooth sailing since. I'm not saying the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 won't work with ESXi but the M1015 has been 100% problem free. Thanks!

November 10, 201411 yr Werking great for almost a year in esxi 5.5 here! Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk You have the AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 passed through to ESXi? Still no issues? Did you start with an earlier ESXi and upgrade to 5.5 or started @ 5.5? I wanted to clarify because I have a network card in my ESXi that doesn't work with a plain 5.5 install. However, if you installed 5.1 it works great, and then you upgrade to 5.5 and it continues to work. I have two AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 cards filled w/ 16 drives and my unRAID box has been super stable to date. However, everything else in my environment is virtualized and I'd like to do that with unRAID as well now for a variety of reasons. This would entail getting a third AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 card as I have 4 drives on my motherboard SATA ports presently in addition to the two cards. So I want to be pretty sure this will work w/o issue before I begin tinkering with a stable setup. Thx
