ANSWERED: Question about running monthly parity check

Recommended Posts

The leading belief is that there is no point to the NOCORRECT unless you are trying to validate/troubleshoot something specific. If something is found wrong with parity you typically want it corrected.

And I'm of the belief that anything automatic should be NOCORRECT.  Yes it means I have to run a correcting parity check when any errors are found because so far they have only been on the parity drive.  But I would rather run a 2nd correcting parity check immediately after the NOCORRECT rather then hit the 1 in a millionth time it is a data drive that has a problem.  Remember Murphy.  He will affect your data when you can least afford a problem.
