February 6, 200917 yr The way i do this on my network is to go into my router settings and assign a specific IP address to the unRaid box. I can reserve IP's via MAC address and this seems to work very well for me. I have the unRaid box get the IP automatically but since in my router i have its MAC address specified, the router dishes the IP i want it to. This works well for me and I actually have a lot of computers on my network getting IP's this way. Keeps this sort of IP conflict from happening.
February 7, 200917 yr Author What do you guys think of that Parity drive? While probably not the reason for my problem now, do you think it looks okay? The guys at Seagate have sent me a replacement drive already! I'd kinda feel bad sending back a drive with no issues. Thoughts? Russell
February 8, 200917 yr I'd say keep using it, it is a known quantity, and the new one is not. It could be better or it could be worse. You could test the replacement drive, and make a better decision based on its apparent condition. The current one appears to have improved in 2 attributes, Raw_Read_Error_Rate and Hardware_ECC_Recovered. There was clearly some sort of glitch at 666 power-on hours, that caused 18 strange UNC errors, but hopefully won't happen again, not something I have ever seen happen before. And I don't like the VALUE of High_Fly_Writes, but it is not a Pre-fail item. I would say use it, but monitor it for awhile, perhaps a SMART report once a week for a month or 2, and if no important changes, then just check it every 3 months.
