Please - need some help - while rebuilding drive, another goes offline, [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

All drives have been precleared, and routinely checked (smart, filesystem, parity)

while checking reiserfs, disk3 went offline, tried to rebuild it, and another disk failed (8)

(i thought it was a Power issue, replaced psu to a 12v single rail 750w)

changed sata cable+power cable,

tried again, what happens is that drive 8 go offline while rebuilding disk3, every time,

in the sys log, system identifies bad sectors in disk8, what can i do?

how can i save data of disk3/disk8, is there any way to restore and ignore bad sectors?

don't know how, but after 15 times of trying, it slowly rebuilt my array, disk 8 shows 28,828 read errors

these are the smart RESULTS: (will take 8 offline+online and will try to rebuild it then check smart then report back)

Comparing bitmaps..vpf-10630: The on-disk and the correct bitmaps differs. Will be fixed later.

Bad nodes were found, Semantic pass skipped

1 found corruptions can be fixed only when running with --rebuild-tree"

should i run  --rebuild-tree ?

The good thing is that the pending sectors on disk8 have gone to zero.  As there are no re-allocated sectors that suggest the writes to the 'pending' sectors have succeeded this time around.

As well as the --rebuild-tree option, you might want to consider also using the --scan-whole-partition option.  This takes longer but may find some additional files (possibly previously deleted ones) compared to running without it.

O.K

Did rebuild tree - almost nothing was deleted - lost and found folder was empty

Reiserfs - no corruptions

Smart - no pending

Parity - checked

Will keep my eyes on drive8 - i think it's "faulty"

(you can mark this as solved)
