WebUI Dynamix disappear?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I have been passed a lot of weeks reading about unraid before mounting my own NAS.

Configuration:

AMD Zacate 350, Ram 2Go (i will increase to 8 Go soon), Parity: 2ToWD20EZRX, Data:2ToWD20EZRX.

The server works since 2-3 weeks, with Unraid 5.05, transmission, sabnzbd, sickbeard, control panel and Dynamix.

Because i have each time errors during the check parity, (no smart error), so i test the ram with memtest, 3 full test nothing. (i try to understand why i have errors during check parity).

Then my new problem, the webUI Dynamix didn't response for the second time (4 days without problem)

I begin a check parity at 13h38.

At 18H no more webUI, sickbeard, transmission, telnet still working.

Searching in the forum, nothing in the syslog

I see in some post, the installation path of Dynamix is important, i think i use the right folders:

What i do wrong, or where i can find a log to understand why the webUI stop responding?

Next step why i have error on check parity  :'(

hope someone can help me.

Sorry for my english.

1. Start in SAFE MODE

2. Run a Parity Check.

3. Then Post a complete SYSLOG if there are Parity Check Errors.

(SAFE MODE stops all plugins from loading. SAFE MODE is an Option on the Start Screen next to the MEMTEST option.)

The Dynamix install is definitely not correct.

The only Dynamix plugin file that should be in /boot/plugins is the one for loading the Dynamix webgui itself.  All the others should end up in /boot/config/plugins.  Were the ones in /boot/plugins installed manually?    Installing Dynamix plugins via the Dynamix plugin manager should always put them in the correct place.

Whether this would cause the symptoms described I am not sure.

Hello itimpi,

The first time i install Unraid, i install all plugins manually with the command line installplg ...

Then, i discover control panel, so after the first WebUI problem, i install a clean Unraid with Dynamix manually.

After that, all the other plugins in WebUI with Dynamix or Control panel.

I didn't change anything after, in this folder.

I'll reinstall again, so we'll see.

Thx for help

dynamix.system.info-2.1.1-noarch-bergware.plg*

...

The reason the installation path is important is because it controls the order things get installed in. All of the plg files in /boot/plugins are installed first, in alphabetical order, then all of the plg files in /boot/config/plugins are installed in alphabetical order. So, the way you have it now this is what you get:

(from /boot/plugins)

control_panel installs before dynamix webgui

several dynamix addons try to install before dynamix webgui but abort because dynamix webgui is not installed yet

finally, dynamix webgui is installed

(from /boot/config/plugins)

control_panel installs again

other plugins install, including successful install of a couple of dynamix addons because now the dynamix webgui is already installed.

I've never used control panel, so I don't know whether the author recommends it be installed in /boot/plugins or not. Normally, /boot/plugins (system plugins) usually means only the webgui. All other plugins belong in /boot/config/plugins (user plugins), including all of the dynamix addons.

So, control panel plg should only be in one place, and all dynamix plg except dynamix.webGUI should be in /boot/config/plugins.

Also, see here for information on getting your syslog.

Agree with trurl.  You've over thought it...its simpler than what you did.

Try this:

Start fresh.

Install Dynamix.

Then from within Dynamix choose the plugins you want (from the tab called 'Dynamix' in the GUI)...these plugins will install and update automatically.

Then install  CONTROL PANEL plugin as instructed in the Control panel-ikosa page. (note that once installed, in Dynamix, click on the 'SETTINGS' tab and you'll see Control Panel. Click on Control Panel and there's a button to install the other plugins.

Hello

i install a fresh version of unraid 5.05 without any plugin.

I start in safe mode and do a parity check.

Again 55 news errors. :'(

Strange for me, but maybe it's normal in the WebUI, in the "Main" tab, in the "Array Status" zone:

at left, it was indicate "parity is valid" and at right "Parity has not been checked yet":

Started                    Stop will take the array off-line.
Yes I want to do this
Parity is valid.              Check will start a Parity-Check.
Correct any Parity-Check errors by writing the Parity disk with corrected parity.
Parity has not been checked yet.

I join you the syslog.txt but it's too complicate for me.

Thx for the help to understand the problem of parity.

i'll see after for the dynamix webui shutdown!

Hello

Because, like i say in my previous message, the WebUI indicate no parity checked.

I performed a new one, this time, the WebUI specify the check parity is done and better with 0 error.

Started                      Stop will take the array off-line.
Yes I want to do this
Parity is valid.                       Check will start a Parity-Check.
Correct any Parity-Check errors by writing the Parity disk with corrected parity.
Last checked on Fri May 9 05:32:03 2014 PDT, finding 0 errors.

I put the new syslog in attachment, but i can't understand why i have errors in each parity check (Just this last time i have 0 error)

Thanks for your help.

Hello

i keep the server running.

i just copy 4Go of data by samba and performed a new parity check.

The parity check isn't finished yet but errors increased from 55 to 72 and strange for me, in the WebUI "Sync errors corrected:" indicate 0.

I was missing something.

i put a new syslog at the end of the parity check.

thx for you help.

Hello all

For my errors problems in disk without error during the parity check, for the moment i concluded it's a heat problem so i refreshed more the disks, the attribut of SMART "Read Error Rate" stay at 39 for a threshold at 51. I keep this point under survey.

For the WebUI Dynamix disappearance:

I install a fresh unraid, install dynamyx, dynamix plugins, control panel, ssh, transmission, sickbeard, and sabnznd.

This time i'm think i use the right folders:

root@Tower:/boot/plugins# ls
dynamix.webGui-2.2.3-i486-1.txz*  dynamix.webGui-2.2.3-noarch-bergware.plg*
root@Tower:/boot/plugins# cd /boot/config/plugins/
root@Tower:/boot/config/plugins# ls
control_panel/                                    sabnzbd/
control_panel-ikosa.plg*                          sabnzbd_unplugged.plg*
dynamix/                                          sickbeard/
dynamix.disk.health-2.1.1-noarch-bergware.plg*    sickbeard_unplugged.plg*
dynamix.plugin.control-2.1.1-noarch-bergware.plg*  ssh/
images/                                            transmission/
openssh_overbyrn.plg*                              transmission_unplugged.plg*
powerdown/

After i started sickbeard (transmission and sabnzbd are stopped), maybe 2 minutes later the dynamix WebUI stop responding, sickbeard keep running

If some one can find why the webUI stop in syslog, i appreciate.

thx for your time.

Hello DaleWilliams,

I saw a lot errors without errors during the parity check (wiki say it's not a big deal), sometime the disk touch 46°C, so i improved the cooling and after i copy files, do more parity check, the error stop increasing in the WebUI, the temperature stay under 40°C and errors recorded in the smart log didn't change.

The reiserfsck was fast, as the disk is almost empty:

root@Tower:~# reiserfsck --check /dev/md1 > reiserfsck.txt
reiserfsck 3.6.24

Will read-only check consistency of the filesystem on /dev/md1
Will put log info to 'stdout'

I think it is good, what is your opinion?

Thanks.

smartb.txt

the disk looks okay. SMART looks okay.

It could just be cooling...

Add more fans to your unRAID server to keep it cool?

Heat could have caused the original problems...

Is the GUI running correctly now?

 • Author

hello DaleWilliams

Last week i install a new fan cooling directly on the data disk.

At the moment, i have a long SMART test running.

the data disk is at 36 °C, the parity at 45°C.

So I'll put a new fan tomorow, after that, one fan by disk, i hope it's sufficient. ::) we see.

For the GUI, i didn't use a lot the server waiting to be sure no disk are damage.

I put sickbeard, sabnzbd and transmission in function with my previous parameter.

I didn't stress the server and all GUIs are running.

One thing i didn't do this time is mounting my old network harddisk to put sickbeard in production quickly before and filling the unraid server with this command:

mount -t cifs -o uid=nobody,iocharset=utf8 //2T/OpenShare/Videos /storage/downloads/2T/Videos

Maybe Dynamix Gui does not like this :P

Hello all

new episode: dynamix disappear .. again :'(

after my last post, i use this command to mount my network harddisk:

mount -t cifs -o uid=nobody,iocharset=utf8 //2T/OpenShare/Videos /storage/downloads/2T/Videos

and begin copying 669 Go of data from my old disk to unraid server, while the copy in course, sickbeard put one episode on download in sabnzbd, dynamix still running.

This morning, copy still in course, i put around 6Go in download in transmission after the download i cleaned transmission, now i tried to connect to dynamix WebUI, nothing.

At the moment, copy and torrents downloads are both finished.

I didn't know if dynamix UI shutdown during copy and/or download, or just after but it's out again:'(

I can't understand why i have this problem!

Does there a debug mode i can activate?

If anybody have an idea, i take.

Thx

EDIT 06/03/2014:

Since i didn't mount my network hard disk, unraid and dynamix keep running perfectly.

I suspect sabnzbd create a folder in the path for the incomplete files so he'll fill the flash and i replace the hard disk he continu generate read error with better cooling.

EDIT 06/03/2014 Bis:

To good to be true: unraid/dynamix webUI shutdown again :'(
