[EXPIRED] HGST 4TB Coolspin $129 at Fry's ends 05/15 in store, and backorder

Featured Replies

This looks good. The image of the box on their site is blurry for some reason. Was trying to find out how much of a warranty was on it.

Looks like a 3 year warranty on it. The picture on the frys site seems to show the old box the drive came in. May want to verify warranty period is 3 years.

Wish it wasn't in store only.  Says you can order it and get it shipped but is currently "backorder"'d so may never get it except as you posted "in store" :'(

Says that is is back-ordered, but that they would ship when more were received. Seems lots of them in stores.

I ordered one (that is the limit).

What they heck, its a good deal and my need is not immediate.

Heard from a friend that went to the duluth location, they had those drives still. Fry's is having some sort of anniversary sale, so lots of stuff on sale. I was hoping for some laptop ram but nothing, ram deals seem scarce these days.

The box says 3 year warranty, at $139 out the door. These run in the middle temperature wise (39C), between the Seagate DM (36C) and DX (42C).

Just went to Fry's and got this one. Ripping is almost complete, so I hope this will finally be my last HDD purchase for at least a year. I'm kinda tired hunting and buying the 4TB drives...  ;D

I just got one of these at the Fry's in Los Angeles. It was the last one on the shelf... hopefully they'll get more in soon.

Email from Fry's ...

I just picked up 2 of these in my local Fry's, considering getting a third lol (It is 1 per transaction, so all you need do is go back in a few times and you should be fine). My local Frys got some back in today. What Fry's does is move stock between stores and so if a store within 100 miles has a lot of stock they will split the stock to stores which have none.

EDIT: I just picked up a 3rd one of these, now let's hope they are all nice and reliable :) . I had considered getting the more expensive WD 4TD external from BB which I have had really good experiences with but decided it was a waste of an enclosure :D .

Got ship notification :)

But does look like this drive is being discontinued and is getting hard to find. AFAIK B&H has the best price at $159. Slightly encouraging that Fry got them back in stock though their price is $10 more.

I ended up with 4 of these drives, all passed pre - clear tests. Only thing to note is that WD 4T drives show up smaller size than the Hitachi, so if you have a WD parity drive unraid will give an error which will require the Hitachi to be used as the parity drive and that requires a rebuild of parity data.

Sounds more like an HPA on the WD drive. I believe the drives are the identical size. Are you using a Gigabyte MB?

To be honest I am not sure what mother is in the server,  it could be gigabyte or asus. What is the HPA issue?

Search is your friend :). I've explained it over and over. (See the "how to search" sticky in the general support forum if you're having trouble - searching is easy but maybe not obvious

Post back if you still have questions.

Thanks,  I found the thread. :)

Arrived!

Thanks pkn for posting this deal!
