nickdeboer
I have been trying to preclear a new 3TB WD green drive and get the following message. Has anyone come across this issue before? WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sde'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted. Disk /dev/sde: 3000.6 GB, 3000592982016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 364801 cylinders, total 5860533168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sde1 1 4294967295 2147483647+ ee GPT Partition 1 does not start on physical sector boundary. ######################################################################## invoked as ./preclear_disk.sh -a /dev/sde ######################################################################## (-a option elected, partition will start on sector 63 for disks <= 2.2TB and sector 1 for disks > 2.2TB) (it will not be 4k-aligned) Are you absolutely sure you want to clear this drive? (Answer Yes to continue. Capital 'Y', lower case 'es'): Y Clearing will NOT be performed Link to comment
Frank1940
Are you running the latest version of preclear? OH, and the correct response to the question is "Yes" NOT "Y" Link to comment
nickdeboer
Yes, it is the version from 5 April 2014. Link to comment
nickdeboer
Thanks for your reply Frank1940. I just realised that i was only entering 'Y'. feeling a bit stupid. It is running now but should I worry about the warning? Link to comment
Frank1940
Thanks for your reply Frank1940. I just realised that i was only entering 'Y'. feeling a bit stupid. It is running now but should I worry about the warning? As I recall, the GPT partition on 3TB drive is expected. If you are still worried search for "GPT" on the entire forum. I think you will find your answer there. Link to comment
