Mac to unRAID server, Connection Failed if I use root login?

Featured Replies

I would like to access my server in Mac OSX Mavericks Finder as the root user.

But everytime I type in root and my password in the connection window it tells me that Connection Failed.

If I try the same with my normal user account it works just fine and fast.

What am I doing wrong?

root works perfect in the webui and in Telnet sessions, so I know the login is alive.

For security reasons, root is never allowed smb access.

Actually makes a lot of sense!

Anyway, I was asking because I am getting a headache over installing CouchPotato and Transmission, I can't get them to point to the folders I want them to point to...

Thought root access would able me to edit their setting files manually.

Thanks for the clarification :)
